Digging the message of Shympony's song, entitled Untuk Mereka
Symphony, an Indonesian band who flapped its wings in Indonesian music industry in the '80s. Initial formation of this band consisted of Fariz RM, Ekki Soekarno, Herman Gelly and Jimmy Paiis. In 1982, they released their first album titled Trapesium. There are 10 of the songs on the album; Interlokal, Sirkus Optik dan Video Game, An’…, Putri Sigma, Sisi B Lagu Pertama, April 7, Sepertigapuluh Dua, Medium, and Untuk Mereka.
Untuk Mereka is loaded with a social conscience. The strains of rhythms and the lyrics were created to remind people about caring each other. This song tells a story of people, especially children, whom are victims of the world wars, and or abandoned by their own countries. They yearn for the peace, they want to be safe. In spite of their suffering, they still look like being cheerful in every single day. By listening this song, we can interpret that we are invited to think about how cruel the world is nowadays. There's only a speck of goodness among a huge circle of wickedness in this world. When we realize it, we are directed to begin instilling a love in our hearts, so that we are willing to serve and help others. Regardless of social strata, we as human beings are also invited to appreciate each other. We must remind each other to strengthen the faith.
